How would our associations and decisions change if we were more mindful of our histories and influences?
Working in philanthropy and fundraising, I have experienced what it is like to generate resources from a place of joy, and I’ve also witnessed financial hardship? frustration? and missed opportunities for growth. Too often financial decisions -- in our relationships and our workplaces -- are driven by emotion and by old and unexplored personal narratives. Left to operate unchecked, unhealthy patterns are held in place by factors like family history, institutional oppressions, systemic biases, fear and self-worth. Carrying these negative emotions and irrational fears can affect our decision making and undermine our impact in the world.
